RoundUp.org Is Turning Spare Change Into Steady Support for Local Refugee Nonprofits

Ahead of World Refugee Day on June 20, RoundUp.org is encouraging everyday donors to round up their purchases for the local organizations supporting refugee families in our community.

DURHAM, N.C. — Jun 18.2026 In recognition of World Refugee Day on June 20, RoundUp.org is rallying everyday spare change behind the local nonprofits working alongside refugee families. Supporters can round up their everyday purchases to the next dollar and send the difference to a refugee-serving nonprofit of their choice — turning a few cents per transaction into dependable, ongoing support.

World Refugee Day, observed each year on June 20, honors the strength and resilience of people who have been forced to flee their homes. The organizations that welcome and support those families locally do extraordinary work — and like most nonprofits, what they need most is reliable revenue they can count on month after month, not just one-time gifts around a single day on the calendar.

That’s exactly what rounding up is built for. Instead of a single donation that comes and goes, a few cents from each purchase adds up quietly in the background — giving these organizations a steady, predictable base of support they can actually plan around. And getting started takes about a minute.

“World Refugee Day is a moment to recognize the families rebuilding their lives in our community, and the local organizations walking that road with them. We wanted to give people a simple, lasting way to help — and a little spare change, sent consistently, goes a long way.”

Jed Carlson, CEO and Founder, RoundUp.org

To get involved, supporters can visit roundup.org, choose a refugee-serving nonprofit, and start rounding up their everyday purchases.

About RoundUp.org

RoundUp.org is an Approved Financial Partner of Visa and Mastercard. We let consumers round up the purchases on their credit card to the next dollar and send the “spare change” to whichever nonprofit they choose. Our whole reason for existing is to help drive recurring revenue for nonprofit organizations, so they can spend less time fundraising and more time pursuing their missions.

All monies raised through RoundUp.org go to our partner Donor Advised Fund, Our Change Foundation, for distribution to each designated nonprofit.

Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, RoundUp.org is on a mission to turn everyday spare change into lasting support for the causes people care about.
